During the coking process was created a hot coal gas. It escaped via a vertical cast-iron channel from the battery chamber and reached two gas receivers located at the ceiling of the battery. Inside the gas receiver the temperature of coal gas was reduced to 100 °C, during which process were emitted tar, ammonia, and hydrogen sulphide. The receivers had a small drop, which enabled the tar and post-gas water to flow back to a tank. The rest of coal and tar collecting inside the receiver was removed manually through a special hatch. The cooled coal gas was directed to coolers.
